Agentic Inventory
Inventory management is a continuous, data-intensive operation. AI agents can monitor stock levels, trigger replenishment, manage supplier orders, and surface exceptions — without your team running the process manually.
The inventory problem
Mid-market inventory management sits between two failure modes: too much stock tying up capital, or too little creating fulfillment failures. The data to avoid both problems exists in your systems — but extracting it, acting on it, and keeping it current requires constant manual effort. Reorder points get missed. Supplier lead times drift. Cycle counts fall behind. Demand signals from sales don't reach the warehouse in time. The result is a team that is always reacting instead of managing.
Sound familiar?
Reorder triggers managed manually, leading to stockouts and overstock cycles
Supplier lead time changes not reflected in replenishment logic until it is too late
Demand signals from sales and operations not integrated into inventory decisions
Cycle count scheduling and exception resolution consuming team time
Inventory accuracy reports built manually from disconnected data sources
Our approach
The agentic approach
We design Standard Agentic Procedures for your inventory processes — starting with replenishment and exception management, where the volume is highest and the rules are clearest. Each procedure defines what the agent monitors, what it acts on autonomously, and what it escalates for human decision. The agent runs the process continuously. Your team focuses on the decisions that require judgment.
What you get
Agentic inventory capabilities
Continuous stock level monitoring
Agents monitor inventory levels against reorder points in real time, triggering replenishment actions before stockouts occur.
Automated replenishment orders
Agents generate and route replenishment orders based on current stock, lead times, and demand signals — with human approval gates for orders above defined thresholds.
Supplier lead time management
Agents track supplier performance against committed lead times, flag deviations, and adjust replenishment timing accordingly.
Demand signal integration
Agents pull demand signals from sales, production schedules, and seasonal patterns to inform replenishment decisions before they become urgent.
Exception triage and escalation
Agents identify inventory exceptions — unexpected depletion, receiving discrepancies, count variances — and route them with context for resolution.
See it in action
Sample procedure: Replenishment trigger
Monitoring
Agent checks stock levels against reorder points on a defined schedule. Compares current on-hand to reorder point adjusted for open POs and in-transit inventory.
Replenishment calculation
When reorder point is reached, agent calculates order quantity based on economic order quantity, supplier minimums, and current demand rate.
Approval routing
Orders below the auto-approve threshold are submitted directly to the supplier. Orders above threshold are routed to the buyer queue with full context for approval.
Order placement
Approved orders are placed via configured channel (ERP, supplier portal, EDI). Agent logs order details and expected receipt date.
Receipt tracking
Agent monitors expected receipt against actual. If receipt is late, escalates to buyer with supplier contact and PO details. Updates inventory projections accordingly.
